"Life wouldn't be as much fun if we knew where its treasures were hidden.
Sometimes you had to search for them. Sometimes you had to fight for them. And sometimes, they were at your feet. Either way, they were waiting. For you."

Title: After Anna
Author: Lisa Scottoline
Publisher: St. Martin's Press (April 10th, 2018)

Goodreads Summary:

Dr Noah Alderman, a widower and single father, is finally content after marrying Maggie. And they're both thrilled when Maggie gets an unexpected chance to be a mother to Anna, the daughter she once thought she'd lost forever.

But when seventeen-year-old Anna arrives, everything changes - and the darkest turn of events will shatter their lives in ways no one could have imagined.

My Thoughts:

After Anna is such a gripping and page-turner book. Even though I heard many disappointing reviews about it, I somehow love the story.

Maggie Ippoliti has remarried after her painful relationship with Florian and now live happily with Noah and little Caleb. One day she received an exciting phone call from her daughter, Anna, whom she never met for seventeen years old. Anna was taken under Florian's custody due to Maggie's postpartum psychosis and now she wanted to claim her mother.

As soon as Anna moves into the house to become part of the family, everything has turn upside down. A place which was once a home sweet home has become a hell on earth. Yeah, I know my description is overdramatic but that is what it is. I just hate a fucked-up family. A conflict arises between Anna and Noah and his relationship with Maggie has been shaken off. I hate this part the most. Like for real, Maggie??  Can't you see things clearly?? Don't you know who to trust?? Noah has been accused of sexual assault against Anna. And Maggie is going mad about it. All that is left for her is she needs to decide between her loving husband or her dear Anna.

While reading this book I keep on wondering and asked myself who is actually lying? Who's the bitch here? Is Noah really a devil hiding behind an angelic mask or is it Anna who tells a lie? Most of the people who left a review of this book said that the plot is predictable. But heck yeah I got all my prediction, assumptions, expectations, wrong. WRONG. I don't know if its a plot twist or it is what it is. For all that I know is my own perception is laughing at me.

The main moral values highlight in this book is about love that can actually make you blind. Just because that person is your most beloved one, you can't simply do nothing about them. Wrong is wrong. A lie is a lie. If they do something wrong, they deserved to be punished. You cannot trust them while the other person is hurting. When there is love, there is loyalty and betrayal as well.

This book is definitely a quick read I've had so far cause I finish it within a day. It's what your curiosity did to you. Eager to be fed.
